Resistance

I don’t want to write today. Part of this has to do with how sick I’m feeling (go away, you damned cold, go away), and part with the fact that Liam’s not napping this morning. No one ever tells you how tiring it is, trying to put a kid to sleep.

Maybe if I skip the tidying up needed at the end of this first section and jump right into the second part, I wil be more interested in doing it.

No, I think all I want to do today is curl up with a book and read. Oh dear.

Well, what you could do is just open up the file, leave it open in the background of whatever else you’re doing, give it a glance every now and then.

Just a glance. Read a paragraph or two.

If it makes you feel like writing, so be it.

Make you a deal: If you do some writing today, I promise to finish the melody for ‘Follow the Wind’ tonight, so that we’ll have something complete to work on tomorrow.

Dare I say, have another? Maybe not today… maybe not tomorrow, but in a few years. I’m loving having two, and they’re 5 years apart. There are days where Josh doesn’t want to nap, but lo and behold, there’s a little mother running through the house. She pulls out a book and reads to him (or at least pretends to read) or sings him a lullaby, and I hear overjoyous giggle-fests coming over the baby monitor while I’m just letting her have her few minutes. Sometimes it works, as if he sees me it’s all over.. no nap.

The days *will* get easier. It’s great that you got a few words in beforehand. Every little bit counts. Baby steps :)
