Argh…

I have to re-record them all. My voice level is too low, and my tone is too low too.

I only managed to find this out after trying to connect it to my computer, failing every way I tried, going online and looking up the manual, pulling the SD card out of it, putting it into my card reader and finding a USB port that would accept it. (Time wasted: one hour.) It sounded fine over the headphones plugged directly to the unit. I’m glad I double-checked.

Well, I guess I know what I’m doing tonight once the boy’s asleep. With a large glass of red wine, I might add. (It’s good to work at home.)

Is there a dial on your recorder that shows voice levels? Generally your voice should just “kiss the red” at its high points.

Also, if the whole thing is digital, you might be able to boost the levels on the computer side, without resorting to re-recording.

It does show levels, but I was instructed to have the highs go no higher than 60%, which they didn’t; they sat at 50% most of the time. They may be boostable via computer, but not by mine, and it isn’t my responsibility to tinker with them anyhow. But I’m not going to hand them in assuming someone can engineer them. I’ll do another set.

Personally, I think the red wine is a truly inspired idea.

Awesome. I forget which group (pretty sure it was some Irish band) where the lead singer had been drinking during the whole recording. He got more slurred as the album went on.

SO going to get this meditation series.
