Storytime at the library for small child (for the first and last time this season — we joined late, and though next week is the last session before September we have a doctor’s appointment already scheduled): Success.
Trip to the office supply store for postcards and stickers: Success.
Introducing small child to a half-dozen Smarties: Success. Except then he whined for more all the way home.
Lunch, bathroom, small child down for a nap: Success. Please, gods, let him sleep for a full two hours. Two and a half would be even more awesome. (ETA: So much for that; all I got was an hour and a quarter.)
BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS: SUCCESS. It deserves capital letters, okay? I designed them and printed them out correctly on the first go. I found enough properly-sized envelopes and addressed them after looking up the addresses I didn’t have. I even have enough stamps for the ones being mailed. As a result of all this, I am currently watching for the four motorcycles bearing harbingers of the apocalypse. (I wanted to carry on the style I’d established for the first two birthday invitations, but the MS Publisher CD has mysteriously vanished and therefore I cannot install the program. It’s fine; these are more than acceptable, mainly because I had the brainwave of printing them on blank postcards and using a picture of Totoros and soot sprites on them.)
Obliterating headache: Failure. Unfortunately, this one is really, really dragging me down. I do cheer up every time I think of having done the invites, but they can only take me so far.
Awww! Soot sprites! Is it a Totoro-themed party?
Man, do you ever manage to accomplish a lot with a headache! Congratulations!
I’ve had a bad head all day, and though nothing as bad a s a migraine, it’s kept me pretty useless. Fortunately, Tallis, as if sensing my pain, has been pretty agreeable, apart from her newest fun-time discovery: SCREAMING!!
It’s not exactly a Totoro-themed party. Well, maybe it is. I’m planning to put Totoros on the cake and the little thank-you bags. If I had any money (read: if anyone was PAYING ME argh) I’d be buying Totoro-themed gifts for him too.
As for how much I’m getting done, it’s a case of things-have-to-get-done, and headache or not, when he’s napping that’s when it gets crammed in. The day did get a lot worse though, and by the time HRH got home I was dead in the water.
*cough cough* I don’t think you need to worry about the Totoro-themed gifts.
I will say no more and just sit over here looking mysterious.
I hope you have a much better day today. Migraines are no fun, especially the ones the medicine can’t kill. (I blame the fluctuations in atmospheric pressure. It’s been nuts around here lately.)
YAY! I was hoping the mysterious gift in the mail was a Totoro amigurumi because I will DIE of keeyoute and he will be so excited he will fall over! Well, anything Totoro-themed will be awesome, really, just in case it isn’t an amigurumi. (You know, I seriously considered teaching myself to crochet and how to decipher crochet instructions just so I could make a small army of Totoros, and then make black pompoms for soot sprites. Then I said, “Self, you have NO TIME TO DO ANYTHING let alone learn a new craft skill,” and Self agreed.)
Self is very smart.
I will say nothing more about the Mysterious Gift and try to be all secretive. You’ll know soon, anyway. (I’m VERY excited. I love giving exciting presents.)
