Liam is sick. Very sick. As in, he has a horrible chest cold that started out Friday morning as a full-blown thing with nothing signalling or leading up to it.
I have been fighting a headache all week, from slight and ignorable to pounding and not-ignorable. Every couple of days it blossoms into a full-fledged migraine.
The good news is that medication (thank all the gods for Triaminic) and a humidifier are managing Liam’s cold very well, so well that he may even be able to go into daycare on Monday. The bad news is that (A) his/our attendance at weekend events such as birthday parties and welcome-homes have, alas, been cancelled, and (B) nothing seems to be help my migraines except silence and darkness and time. That means all my commitments such as reviews and introductions have been slowed down. The lack of sleep due to child waking in the night hasn’t helped much the past two days, either.
We bought him a set of two little hockey sticks today. He insisted on carrying one in his stroller with him as we did the rest of our errands. It was very cute. He hasn’t quite grasped the concept of hitting the ball with the stick, though; he runs after the ball and picks it up in his free hand, saying, “That Liam’s!” It will come with time.
And in other completely unrelated news, I had my hair cut on Friday. It is… erm… short. And layered. I like it very much, but it’s shorter than I’ve had it in many, many years.
Sorry about Liam, poor baby!
“it’s shorter than I’ve had it in many, many years”
We must get together soon and discuss why, after so many years, comes the sudden urge to cut our curly hair short (although I can’t believe how much mine has grown already – must have been because it was cut during the full moon!)
And I cut mine on the new moon, so maybe I won’t have to worry about cutting it again for a while!
Sorry to hear that Liam’s sick. I hope it’s not the same cold Arthur had – although Arthur’s has only been very mild in terms of coughing, so maybe not the same. Anyway, sending him (and you!) good thoughts for better health!
I sympathize about Liam being sick as everyone here except me has had chest colds or congestion. Ainsley had a runny nose for a week and it made nursing stressful and difficult for both of us. Elspeth even had to go on oral antibiotics – she over it now, fortunately. Both will be at pdaughter’s on Monday (it’s a ped day for Elspeth) if Liam is there – you should see Ainsley chase Liam around! I certainly hope he feels better soon, so that you can catch up on sleep and fight off that migraine.
I’d love to see a photo of your new haircut!
Nightdemons: And here I was worrying, thinking I’d better keep him home Monday so that he wouldn’t give the cold to Ainsley! Okay, not as worried on that point any more… thanks. :)
Curtana: I think maybe it was Arthur’s cold, just in an argh-ly slightly mutated form — it was exactly three days after they were passing the train whistle back and forth. Ah well, they’re toddlers, and colds are colds; it’s going to happen.
What is it with everybody getting sick lately? Shoo, evil fall germs!
In this family, Sam got roseola, followed by a bad-ish cold for me, and then Adam being so badly out of commission that he spent over 24 hours on the couch, wrapped in layers of clothing and Matthieu’s duvet, sweating and shivering with fever… Matthieu’s been immune to it all, it seems.
In any case, get well soon, Liam, and we’ll see you guys some other time.
Oh, did you go see Diane for your hair? I can’t wait to see.
