People, go hug your families. I very nearly lost mine yesterday.
Oh, I’m so glad it all worked out. And maybe, just maybe, that person did learn a valuable lesson.
Once I was late and driving to a wretched corporate job, flying up Blvd. Pie IX in the dead of winter before they put all those traffic lights in. I went to race by a stopped bus and this woman carrying a little bundled baby in her arms had gotten off the bus and was tearing across the road to catch a bus on the other side. As she ran by, I slammed on my brakes just in time to kiss my windshield, but otherwise no harm done (the poor woman was in such a hurry I don’t even know if she noticed). I cried all the rest of the way to work, thinking how blessed I had been and what might have happened and how could I have lived with it?
Then and there, I decided being late just doesn’t matter when compared to other things…
How frightening! I’m glad they weren’t hurt :o
