Help Me…

Shelfari is consuming me alive.

Last night was a bad, bad time to follow a link sent to me, to a wonderfully engrossing site that networks people via the books on their shelves and helps you look at what other people like to read in order to help you find new stuff. It wouldn’t be so bad if the Flash bits didn’t take so long to load, and if there was a straightforward way to search for one’s edition while adding one’s titles to one’s list. (At least, I think they’re Flash; it may be a simple Java application. Whatever. It takes too long.)

Or maybe it’s just that I have too many books. Or that I’m work-avoiding.

Break’s over.

    Hi there,

I work at Shelfari and have seen what you’ve seen. We’ve seen a massive growth in traffic and are quickly making a an equally massive improvement in infrastructure (servers and such). We should be done with that very soon.

So do come back and enjoy the community. Shelfari’s readers are truly amazing and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them.

Oh, I’m not going anywhere — I think the project is terrific! I just really need to focus on work right now. Shelfari is very seductive (kudos on that, by the way.) :)

When my brain wasn’t fried I was going to get around to framing my feedback in a clear and concise fashion fashion and submitting it officially; still will, as a matter of fact. But thanks for stopping by and leaving a note about the upgrades. I’m looking forward to seeing how they make the experience even better.
