Words Words Words — Really Big Ones

This is spectacular:

The city of Montreal is about to adorn its streets with some literary graffiti.

Starting in September, the words of 10 Montreal writers will be painted on buildings, billboards and brick walls around town.

Lines from famous Montrealers such as Leonard Cohen, Mordecai Richler, Michel Tremblay and Monique Proulx will go up in places where the public can read them.

I heard about this on the radio last week. Apparently it’s going to be a series of ‘trompe d’oeuil’ style murals that re-create the wall surfacve they are painted on, but incorporate the selected quotes by Montreal authors, embeding the words of Montrealers into it’s architec ture – kind of a thing.

Our best man gave us “Dance Me to the End of Love” by Mr. Leonard Cohen, and I’d love to see that on a billboard!
