Modern-Day Druidess: Discover Ancient Wisdom, Prophetic Power, and Healing Arts

In this book Cassandra Eason, a member of the Order of Bards, Ovates, & Druids (one of the largest international Druid groups) looks at the popular practice of Druidism from a specifically feminine perspective. Modern-Day Druidess examines the practicality of worshipping Nature in the modern world, offering women a simple set of practices through which they may cultivate and strengthen their connection to the natural world.

Each chapter addresses a different subject, such as ancestors, deities, seeking oracular advice and omens in Nature, healing magic, groves and circles, the power of the sun, and connecting with the power and wisdom of trees. The subjects of inspiration and creativity are emphasized, as is respect and the concept of service in return for the wisdom gained from the lessons Nature offers.

Eason successfully differentiates witchcraft from Druidry by explaining that the practice of witchcraft focuses on raising and releasing power by several methods, whereas druids use their connection to Nature to influence change on a slower more subtle level.

Modern-Day Druidess also includes many practical exercises that help the reader explore the power of Nature and the land, in order to encourage their lives and thoughts to flow in a more harmonious fashion. Overall, this is a very accessible text which looks at a feminine-focused path which honours Nature in a free-form way. Modern-Day Druidess is not a ground-breaking book, but it does distill the practice of Druidry into a simple, intuitive process for those women seeking a non-Wiccan alternative to Nature worship.
