They got weaker and weaker, until the last one (& Baby) was so bleah that if it wasn’t the last one available I’d have stopped reading them entirely. I really much preferred The Undomestic Goddess. I’d read her other stand-alones but the library doesn’t seem to have them.

Book of Air and Shadows: Bleah. There are three narratives, and the two that don’t revolve around the protagonist are the more interesting ones. It’s hard to write a book where the protagonist isn’t a sympathetic character, so I gave this a lot of extra chances, but in the end I gave up two-thirds of the way through because I found myself skimming the bits with the main character in order to get to the other stuff. Not a good sign.
