What’d you think of Still Life? I read it last fall and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, her next book (the name escapes me at the moment) is not as good.
It was good; I enjoyed it. I found it evident once or twice that it was a first novel, but overall it was a good read.
Yup, I find she’s good with character, but often has trouble with pacing. That problem becomes clear much too quickly with her second book.
I am always amazed and envious about how many books you manage to read each month…but to add a new GGK to the list!
Kudos!
And I was looking at this month and thinking, “Wow, I’m low!”
I wasn’t going to read Ysabel, actually; I wasn’t sure how GGK would handle modern-day stuff, after all his deeply historical fiction. But it was excellent, and precisely what I was in the mood for, and I recommend it, particularly as I know you’re a GGK fan.
